Celebrate!
Important Items for PVES Staff:
Second Grade Tour: Concrete Primary second graders will be visiting us this week on Monday, May 23rd around 8:30 a.m. They will be visiting third-grade classrooms, touring the school (with fifth-grade tour guides), and hearing from our administration. We are excited to welcome them to our building. This will conclude around 10:00 a.m. Fifth-grade tour guides will report to the MP Room around 8:10 to review their assignments and prepare for the tour.
Celebrations: We will be celebrating House Peltasta and our Math Madness winners on Tuesday, May 31st. We will reach out to the teacher of the grade level winner for the math madness challenge to determine a good time to come by for the ice cream celebration. If we have to move field day to our make-up rain day (5/31), we will move celebrations to May 25th.
Awards Day Reminders: We will be hosting parents for our awards days in the classrooms this year. The agenda for awards days can be found HERE. Parents will sign in outside the office in our front hallway. They can begin this a few minutes before the ceremony. Any parent wishing to sign out a student may do so in the classroom. We will have related arts on these days. Third and fourth grade teachers have an email about a scheduled change with related arts.
Field Day Reminders: Please encourage students to apply sunscreen and bring a water bottle. They may wear a hat on this day and encourage light clothing as it will be hot. Parent visitors may park in our front overflow parking lot. In order to free up spaces, the high school will block off thirty parking spaces on Wednesday and Friday. If our grade-level homeroom teachers could park in these spaces and enter through the door near the computer lab, that will help other staff to park in the back parking lot or front spaces outside the main entrance. Thank you in advance for your help! Teachers are asked to please supervise their students during this time. You are welcome to bring chairs and tents if you would like. If it is your related arts time, a related arts teacher will be present to supervise. Staff may wear t-shirts and appropriate length shorts on this day. We will have other staff members assisting with signing parents in, transporting students back to the school, etc. We will send a separate email to teachers with additional details about the day. We do have Tuesday, May 31st as a make-up day if it rains. Thank you so much to Mr. Little for his hard work to prepare for these fun days!
Please note the time changes: 3rd Grade 9:00-11:00 on May 25th; 4th Grade 12:00-2:00 on May 25th; 5th Grade 9:00-12:00 on May 27th
Fifth Grade Clap out: On Friday, May 27th we will have a fifth-grade clap out for our school to celebrate and encourage our fifth graders. This will take place around 8:30 a.m. We will make an announcement for our students to line the hallways. They can make signs for our students if you would like. To start the parade, fifth graders will exit from the end of their hallway and enter back through the door near the new third-grade wing. They will walk the entire third-grade hallway and continue towards the lion mural. Fourth-grade classes are asked to line the main hallway all the way toward related arts classrooms. The fifth graders will walk through the main hallway and exit the building by the bus circle. Fifth-grade parents have been invited to line the sidewalks all the way to the PVHS stadium where our fifth graders will enter for their last field day as PVES students. We hope this is a special and memorable event for all of our students.
Class Creator: This is a reminder for our homeroom teachers to please work on your class surveys in Class Creator. This is information is so important to help us build our classes for the next school year. Please let an administrator know if you have any issues or questions. The deadline to complete this is June 3rd. We will mail class placement letters, supply lists, and meet the teacher dates to parents over the summer. Also, we do not take specific teacher requests. This was shared with our parents in the last PVES "In the Know" newsletter.
Yearbooks: Students who have purchased a yearbook will receive those on May 26th. You may allow students to sign each other's yearbooks. Please make sure the student's name is on the inside of the front cover. Students are only allowed to sign in the classroom. Please do not send students around the school or to another classroom for supervision purposes. Also, spend time discussing expectations before allowing students to sign. No one should write anything inappropriate, draw or mark on people's pictures, or destroy another person's property (purchased by a parent). Fifth-grade teachers will want to do this before you begin your awards day ceremonies.
June 1st, 2nd, and 3rd: June 1st and 2nd are half days for students. We will begin dismissing at 11:00 on these days or as soon as the busses arrive from Concrete Primary. We will offer bag lunches on these half days and will call for students by grade level beginning around 10:30 a.m. On June 1st, staff members are free to get lunch off-site if they would like. Teachers who will be participating in summer school instruction will have a meeting with Nicole McGaha and Jessica Thomas on June 1st at 2:00 p.m.We will have an end-of-year staff luncheon on June 2nd in the MP Room once we have finished dismissal. June 3rd is a professional development day for teachers. Your end-of-year checklists are due before you leave that day.
