Celebrate!

Image
We have so much to celebrate as we read the final blog of the 2021-2022 school year!  The Greenville Rotary Club came last Thursday to present a plaque and bag of books to one student in each of the third-grade classes who was the "Most Improved Reader." The students were excited to celebrate with their classmates.  We were able to host one of my favorite events this past Friday, Real Men Read! It is so wonderful to see men from our community partnering with us to celebrate reading. They were able to encourage our students by sharing that reading is important and can be fun! A huge thank you to our staff members for helping us secure these fantastic readers. Also, we want to thank Mrs. McGaha for her hard work to make this event possible.  We were able to celebrate Mrs. Nancy Hughes and her retirement this past Wednesday at the Career and Technology Center. Nancy has been a part of Anderson One for 25 years. We appreciate her service to our students and wish her al...

Finish Strong

Image
We are in the home stretch with 11 full days of school left. You get to determine how those last full days of school will be spent. It is easy to let up and simply fill the time. Or you have the option to be intentional and innovative in these last days. What is something exciting and creative you have wanted to do to push your students this year? Remember that our students thrive on routines and behavior issues decrease when there is high engagement. How can you plan exciting and fun learning opportunities for your students to keep their engagement high and push them as learners? Remember how you start is important, but how you finish is what matters most! #pvespride Great things happening at PVES...  Of course, we had to follow through with our fundraiser rewards as we talk about finishing strong. Your admin team was dunked and slopped a couple of weeks ago. We are working on getting the video put together for you to share with your students.  These students were able to cel...

Grit- It is Worth It!

Image
May is a difficult month in the life of a school. It is a busy time as we begin to wrap up the school year. It is the time of year when grit is most needed in order to push through to the end. You may find yourself asking the question, "is it worth it?" This is my sixteenth year in education. It has been incredible to reflect on my journey so far. I have watched former students graduate, get married, start families, and begin careers. A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of having a conversation with a former student who is now a nurse at the same hospital as my husband. Was it worth it? Absolutely! There is a saying that the days are long but the years are short. All of us have had some long and difficult days this school year. Now we are quickly coming to a close with this school year with less than 15 days out from wrapping up. I want to encourage you that you are in a profession that makes a difference, an eternal difference in the lives of others. Thank you for your ...

This week we want to shower you with love and appreciation. Thank you for all that you do for the students who walk through your classroom doors each and every day. You are making a difference! The best is yet to come for each one because of your incredible impact and influence. On behalf of the students at PVES we say... The amazing things happening at PVES... Our strings students did a fantastic job at their concert. The gym at Wren High School was packed with parents, family members, and teachers. Great job to Mr. Velasco for his incredible instruction and support in this program.  Powdersville Elementary was recognized at the Drive game last Sunday for having over 40% participation in the Reading All-Stars program for the past 3 of 4 years.  A special thanks to Ms. Black, our teachers, and our students fo...
