Our Mindset Matters

Image
It is officially the fourth nine weeks. The school year and the time we get to spend with our students is coming to an end faster than we know it. In this nine weeks, we can tend to let our minds wander to everything we haven't gotten to yet. We think about things our students don't know yet or problems we will see happening around us. It is during this time that we need to reflect on our mindset to ensure that we are failing forward and looking at every bump in the road as an opportunity to get better as we continue moving forward. Our students need for us to show them that with each failure is an opportunity for success. We can do hard things, but we first have to believe that we can. I want to challenge you to think of at least one thing that you have decided was too hard to do at this point in the year. How can we make this happen? Who do you need for support to achieve this? We will see change when we decide that change IS possible.  A look at some things happening around ...

Goals and Growth

Image
We often talk about growth as a staff and the importance of it as we pursue excellence. This week we want to share some of these same thoughts with our students. We want to remind them of the power of the word "yet" and that they are continuing to grow and get better each and every day. This week they will have the opportunity to set goals and achieve with spring MAP testing. It is powerful to have conversations about a growth mindset and maybe even allow them some time to reflect on the growth they have experienced so far this year. Maybe they can now recall all of their basic facts. Maybe they can play the recorder or read five chapter books. Whatever that looks like, let's take some time to share with our kids the power of setting, achieving, and celebrating goals and growth. I have included some images that you can share to let them know we believe in each one of them! Celebrations at PVES: We were definitely feeling lucky this last week to have each of you as a part ...

Perspective Matters

Image
Often times we are caught up in the day-to-day routine and need to be reminded of a different perspective. If you are like me the day-to-day can cause me to be bogged down losing sight of the bigger picture. As I sat and paused, enjoying the beautiful spring weather I could not help but be reminded of the big picture. A different perspective...  11 school days until the end of the 3rd nine weeks  25 school days until spring break 57 school days until the end of the school year The beautiful thing about a different perspective is that you get to hold it and let it determine direction. So my question to you is what are you going to do with the next 11, 25, and even great, 57 school days? Each one of those days matters for each one of our students. Let's embrace that perspective and let it define our actions.  Things to Celebrate at PVES: Welcome Mr. Matt to PVES! He and these sweet friends in Ms. Barber's class had a great time with some Reinsance fun a couple of Fridays ag...
