Goals

Goals...

In our last blog post, we discussed taking some time to reflect on the year so far, refocus, and then set goals. You are in education because you have a passion for transforming our students' futures by providing them with the skills they will need to succeed later in life. We push them, have high expectations, and try to assist them in ultimately achieving the goals we have set for them and assist them in setting goals for themselves. As we begin to strive to try to achieve those goals, it can get tough to push through all of the circumstances that surround us. We have had quarantines, snow, ice, and many additional factors that could put us behind from where we thought we would be by now. I want to encourage you to continue to dream big for yourself and your students, continue working on the goals you have set, and don't forget that a goal is just a wish without taking action. Be purposeful with your time, determined to make progress, and know that there is a team and a family around you at Powdersville Elementary that would love to come alongside you to make these happen!

Things to celebrate:

Mr. Little took some of our students to our very first archery tournament last Saturday, January 15th. Our students represented Powdersville Elementary well.

Mrs. McGaha has opened up our Dollar Book Store. She saw a huge crowd on her first day and hopes to continue seeing our students eager to purchase new books every Thursday morning.

While visiting Ms. Simon's room, we caught a glimpse of a fun way to celebrate tables that work well together. We love seeing teachers being innovative in the ways that they motivate their students and promote positive behaviors.

Important Information for Staff

Olweus Class Meetings:  We will pick back up with our class meetings tomorrow, January 24th. Please be responsive to your classroom needs and continue to work on building a strong classroom community. Don't forget about our folder with resources linked here. This time will also only take the first part of your PRIDE Time. The second half will be utilized to support students that you identified on your action plans or based on recent data that may need reteaching or enrichment.

Action Plans: Speaking of action plans, due to all of the snow and ice, many of you will be beginning your action plans from last week. We were impressed with the thought and alignment that many of you made between your MAP suggested focuses and your essential standards. We look forward to seeing intentional instruction taking place to support the needs of all of our students. Please make sure to share your action plan digitally with the administrator that you had your data meeting with if you have not done so already.

Celebrations: This Friday we will be recognizing and celebrating your PRIDE Practice winners and your winner for the Writing Wall of Fame. You will recognize your PRIDE Practice winners following announcements and we will call your Writing Wall of Fame winners down to a small breakfast in the library shortly after. Thank you for supporting these efforts by really making each of these recognitions a big deal for your students. Mrs. Horn will be taking down the writing from the first nine weeks and putting it in your box this week. Please have your Writing Wall of Fame winner place their new piece on the wall by Thursday, January 27th to ensure it is there for our celebration. You will want to also ensure the slide for your winner is complete.

Volunteers Needed: We are excited about our next Spirit Night at Eggs Up Grill on Monday, January 31st. We still need volunteers, so if you have not done so already, please choose a time to help us serve our community and support our PTSO. We are also still in need of volunteers for the Talent Show on February 3rd. If you are able to help, please email Mrs. Fitch to let her know.

COVID Considerations:  To assist us with close contacts and quarantines, please ensure that your students are three feet from each other. You can ensure this by limiting students who are sitting side by side, ensuring that desks are turned in ways that create three feet between chairs, and limiting group time to ensure students are not close together for longer than 15 minutes. This will help limit the number of students who have to learn virtually for an extended period of time which is what we feel is best for our students.
