It takes a TEAM
This week we will focus on TEAM. We are blessed at PVES to have such amazing individuals coming together for one common goal of helping students to develop as learners and feel empowered as leaders. In order for all students to learn at high levels, it takes an investment by all of us working as a team. The investment involves academics, social-emotional learning, a safe and clean environment, and care for the whole child. This week I want you to be encouraged by your important part in the team. Take some time to reflect on the part that you play and know that you are each making a difference in the lives of our students and your co-workers.
Celebrations for PVES:
Important Information for PVES:
Eggs Up Grill: This Monday we will host our second Eggs Up Grill spirit night from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Many of you have signed up to help serve our families this evening. You can check the sign-up HERE for your time. Thank you so much for taking the time to participate. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled time to serve. We also ask that you wear your blue PVES school shirt. We hope this one will be a huge success again!
Talent Show: We have the wonderful opportunity this year to celebrate our talented students this Thursday, February 3rd at 6:00 p.m. at Powdersville High School. We hope you will be able to come out and support our students. Rehearsal will take place on Tuesday after school. (There will be no chorus this week.) A huge thank you to Mrs. Fitch, Mr. McAuliff, Mrs. Brooke Williams, Mrs. Arnold, Mrs. Ceballos, and Mrs. Heath for their help with auditions. Many of you have also volunteered to help Mrs. Fitch the night of the show. She will be sending out an email tomorrow of ways to help. It definitely takes a team to make this happen!
SEL: We are continuing our What's Up Wednesday weekly SEL check-ins. The need for mindfulness and social-emotional learning continues to grow. Thank you to Mrs. Grant and Ms. Lee for working to find ways to incorporate this into our week. Remember this will take about five minutes of your homeroom/pride time. Then, you can transition to your action plan and other groups. Remember we will still have our Monday Olweus class meetings. The goal is to help our students start their week off and then check in mid-week.
ACCESS Testing: Our Multi-Language Learners will be taking their ACCESS tests starting this week. Mrs. Melissa Thomas has been in communication with teachers regarding the testing schedule for these students. This testing will take place over several weeks and should conclude by March 11th. Please be mindful of the testing taking place in her room on the 100 hallway. Remind students to be quiet when going up or down the 100 hallway. We wish them the very best and know they have worked so hard this year. Thank you to Mrs. Thomas for all her work to prepare our students.
Valentines and Valentines Grams: Students will be able to bring in valentines for their classmates this year. Teachers can provide a total number of students or a class list with first names. Remind students that they will need to have a valentine for each classmate if they plan to participate. Any candy or food item must be store-bought and individually wrapped to follow our COVID-19 district protocols. They do not have to participate. Teachers new to PVES are encouraged to reach out to their mentor teachers to discuss the logistics of distributing these. PTSO will also be selling valentine grams that will be delivered on Valentine's Day. Look for order forms in your boxes soon.
