Power of Reflection

This Tuesday marks the end of the first nine weeks period for the 2021-2022 school year. As we close our first quarter it is powerful to take some time to stop and reflect before moving forward. Reflection is a powerful tool that can provide clarity for the next steps in order to move forward. Take some time this week to think about what went really well this nine weeks period. Be sure to celebrate that. Think about what has not gone well or what needs to be changed moving forward. It is not too late to make adjustments. The point is to pause, reflect, plan, move forward, and believe the best is yet to come!

A look at the great things happening at PVES...

 Important Information for PVES Staff

Grades and Report Cards: The end of the first nine weeks is Tuesday, October 19th. All grades should be in by Thursday, October 21st at 4:00 p.m. Patty will print paper copies of verifications and place them in the teacher boxes Friday, October 22nd. Teachers will need to review this carefully and make any necessary changes before Monday, October 25th. Grades will be stored on Monday at 9:00 a.m. Report cards will be emailed out on Tuesday, October 26th after school.

Fundraiser:  We are so close to reaching our goal of $30,000. Thank you so much to all our teachers for your support. Remember to put any last-minute donations outside your door Monday morning. PTSO will be by to collect these. We will announce our total Monday afternoon. Look for videos from the pie-eating contest and sundaes. Homeroom teachers, please make sure to share these after announcements.

Earthquake Drill: This Thursday, October 21st, we will have our required earthquake drill. At 10:21 a.m. schools across the state will participate in the "Shake-Out" drill. An announcement will be made at 10:21 to begin the drill. Students are expected to stop, drop, cover and hold on. This will look like students getting under a desk or table and waiting until the drill is concluded. Remind students of the importance of getting quiet when they hear the intercom come on and to follow the directions of the adults in the building.

Celebrations: Friday will be a day of celebration as we recognize students for Pride Practices and Writers Wall of Fame. Please make sure to add in your child's photograph, writing, and why you chose their writing HERE in this presentation, by October 20th.  Homeroom teachers, please recognize your Pride Practice students for Purposeful and Respectful following announcements on Friday morning. You will read their certificate, present them with the medal, and take a picture to post to their Seesaw. We will call for all Writing Wall of Fame students to come during Pride Time to celebrate. Thank you for your help to celebrate these students and their accomplishments.

House Points: All house points will need to be entered in by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesay, October 19th. We will total the points that evening and determine a winner. On Wednesday morning we will announce the winner and reset points for the next nine weeks. Remember any staff member can award points to any student. We hope to have this displayed in the hallways soon!

Olweus: This week we will be focusing on lesson 3 that can be found here in our folderPlease be reminded that your OLWEUS meetings should not take your entire PRIDE time.
