Believe
Believe is defined as accepting something as true. It can also be categorized as having confidence in something. This week I want to remind you to believe in yourself. Believe that you are called for a purpose to do great work. Believe that the best is yet to come for you and for your students! This belief along with remembering your why will make you unstoppable. You can do this! I believe in you.
A look at some great things happening at PVES...
Important Information for PVES Staff:
Fundraiser Information: PTSO asks that all of our homeroom teachers put any money outside of your classroom in the black mailbox by 8:30 (using your PTSO folder). If you do not have a black mailbox outside your classroom door, you can clip your folder to the door frame with a magnet. PTSO will come around to collect this money and begin counting in the morning. Thanks for helping us talk this up with our students.
Olweus: Remember we will start our Olweus class meetings on Monday during PRIDE time. All students need to take a survey at the beginning of PRIDE time on Monday before you begin your class meeting. Homeroom teachers will receive a separate email with this link. This should not take the entire PRIDE time and needs to conclude by 8:40. (This should still allow you time to pull a reading or math intervention group.) All staff should be trained on Olweus. Any returning staff members can refresh with this teacher guide and access the first six lessons here. You can also access future resources in this folder. All teachers and staff members should be familiar with the Olweus program expectations and rules. Please reach out to an administrator if you have any questions or need support.
Conferences: Parent conferences are important to the success of our students and foster partnerships with our parents. The expectation is that conferences will take place by November 12th. We want to provide some guidance as to how you can facilitate these. Remember we do report that we meet with 100% of our parents, so we ask that you make every effort to do so and keep a record of your conferences. An email was sent to homeroom teachers about some reminders and considerations on how and when to facilitate these conferences. Thank you in advance for your time to meet with parents for the success of your students.
Sub Plans and Medical Alerts: Be sure to leave detailed sub plans that include your schedules, seating charts, and class rosters. It is also important to include a note in your plans about seeing your medical alert folder- provided by Nurse Cynthia. This folder needs to be with your plans so your substitute is aware of any allergies or urgent medical needs/alerts.
Walkie-Talkie Reminders: All staff members should have access to walkie-talkies. Please make sure to have these on at recess or in the cafeteria. When on, you should remain on channel one. This allows the front office to communicate with you when you are not in your classroom. Custodians are on channel three throughout the day. It is very important to be careful when communicating on the walkies. Do not share specific names or private information over the walkie. In regards to calls to the nurse, remember to follow up with a nurse pass with details when applicable.
Celebrate the Positives: We want to find ways to celebrate the awesome things our students do each and every day. Remember students are able to clip up in the classroom. You can also award a house point to a student who demonstrates being purposeful, respectful, innovative, determined, or excellent. We also want to share another way to recognize students for positive behavior. If you have a student who has gone above and beyond we would love for you to submit a positive referral using THIS LINK. This will email us and let us know when can celebrate. We would love to follow up with a shout-out, positive phone call home, and house points! Thank you for your help to celebrate our students! We believe in each one of them.
