Resilience
Resilience is defined as the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness. The days can seem long and some can be tougher than others. There is no manual for how to be an educator in the midst of a pandemic. I hope you know that you are doing amazing things and each of these difficult moments is shaping you. Remembering your why helps you get back up and try again the next day so you can thrive!
A look at some of the amazing things happening at PVES this week...
Teachers are starting to pull small groups for reading. Thanking you for being intentional about this time at your guided tables.
Mrs. Horn provided some great Guided Math PD for our teachers new to PVES. We heard some wonderful ideas and discussions. It is exciting to see our people growing, learning, and leading the way!
Miss B's friends enjoyed some music and movement this week! We love all of our learners at PVES.
Important Need to Know Information for PVES Staff:
Eggs Up Grill Spirit Night: Thank you to the many of you who have signed up to serve at our Eggs Up Grill Spirit Night. You are welcome to wear jeans on this day and we ask you to please also wear your PVES shirt for this year. We are hoping this night will be a hit with our students and their families! If you have not had a chance to sign up, you can do so HERE! Remember you will need to arrive 10-15 minutes before your assigned time to receive details and training. A huge thank you for your support. We sold over 175 tickets!
House Points: We will now be collecting house points in the Ron Clark Academy App. This will allow us to celebrate each house member who earns a house point as well as the houses. We hope to have this displayed in our atrium and cafeteria TVs soon. You can also learn more about the app here: https://www.rcahousesystem.com/faq. Remember any staff member at PVES can award a house point for any student. You will just need to ask the student his/her name. Remember earning a house point is a big deal and should be for a student going above and beyond. Think about our Pride Practices when rewarding points.
Cognia Update: Please continue to look for evidence and write up your explanation of your evidence. We hope to meet back together on Wednesday, September 22nd for a final reading of each standard. The goal would be for us to switch with other folks in our teams in order to proofread and provide feedback. Thank you for your assistance with this process.
ESOL Information: Mrs. Melissa Thomas has provided a September newsletter with reminders and helpful links and tips. Make sure to take some time to look through this newsletter and reach out to Mrs. Thomas if you have any questions.
T-Shirt Orders: We heard from many of you about ordering additional t-shirts or long sleeve shirts. If you are interested in purchasing one of these, please complete this form. Short sleeve shirts (same as what we have) will be $10 and long sleeve shirts (same design and material) will be $15.
Taco Tuesday: We want to celebrate our awesome, nacho average staff by providing a taco bar from Moes on Tuesday. An administrator will be in the hallway near the 100 hallway to take your kids to get their lunch. Staff members can drop by the PD room (room 100) to fix your plate and meet your kids either in the cafeteria or hallway headed back to the classroom. We wish we could do even more, but we want you to know how much we appreciate all you are doing every day for our students!
